Women Who Work Together, Stay in the WorkForce Together: How to Create More Confident Women through Acceptance.

Posted by Ali Powell on May 16, 2014 9:00:31 AM

I read articles about women in business and women in tech all the time. Over time I have grown to have my own opinions on the matter.  I have read online about how we as a country need to work on keeping women staying in the workforce. The answer to staying in the workforce as well as getting more women into tech might just be about feeling comfortable and accepted. Feeling comfortable and accpeted by others around you leads to confidence.

How My Mother's Selflessness and Determination Taught Me that Women Can Be Whatever They Want to Be and Work Their Way Up

Posted by Ali Powell on May 12, 2014 10:05:14 AM

My mother deserves more than this blog post. I rarely talk about how my mom has influenced me as a person but with Mothers Day yesterday I think she deserves a spot light. My Mom has taught me that any girl, any lady, any woman can be what she wants to be in life. To be successful (whatever that means to you) you need to get out there and do stuff. Get stuff done. Luck happens because you work hard and then your hard work pays off. Be good to people and to yourself and good things will come to you. Hard work is something we are all capable of. The world holds whatever you want to make of it. So get up and start working towards something. If you want to get somewhere in life you need to work towards it. Have your eye on some goal and work towards everyday.

A Call for Women in Tech to Help Change the Stigma of What it is like to work as women in tech- From the Inside of our Companies Out.

Posted by Ali Powell on Apr 8, 2014 9:00:00 AM

Women hold only one quarter of all IT jobs. I read this yesterday in a post about the importance of getting more women in tech. This article was posted in the NY Times and was titled "Technology's Man Problem." The title sparked my interest right away. Then when I checked out the other people on Twitter posting about it, I figured I should spend some time actually reading it to see if I could learn something. I  have a stream setup to get notifications anytime someone on Twitter tweets about anything to do with women in tech and my stream after this post came out looked like this.

Women in Tech Work Hard and Want to WorkOut Hard Too!

Posted by Ali Powell on Mar 26, 2014 7:30:00 AM

I follow keyword sets through our HubSpot social media monitoring tool around "women in tech, #womenintech, etc" so that I can come across cool women doing great things in tech. It helps me to find women in tech and women in startups who should be highlighted here on my blog so you all can learn about them as well. Learning about other women doing great things in tech and creating cool startups is a great way for all of us to stay motivated and continue to learn from each other. It is all part of spotlighting more women in technology roles so that women not in tech can learn about the types of jobs that women can have in tech. We have to expose more women to tech if we want to get more women to be involved in technology.
